John D. Polansky, M.D.
Physician and Surgeon
Dr. Polansky is a board-certified licensed ophthalmologist who has been practicing in Eugene since 1976. Originally from the East Coast, Dr. Polansky is a 1968 graduate of Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia, PA. Following his graduation, Dr. Polansky completed extensive training in some of the most prestigious Ophthalmology programs in the United States. Dr. Polansky’s internship was completed in the Los Angeles area at Wadsworth VA Hospital, followed by a fellowship at the Jules Stein Eye Institute at UCLA. His residency was completed in 1975 at Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia, PA.
Along with practicing general Ophthalmology, Dr. Polansky has developed a passion for Cataract and Diabetic eye care. He also has an extensive knowledge in the diagnosis and treatment of Glaucoma and Macular Degeneration.
Having practiced in Eugene for 40 years, Dr. Polansky is honored to have provided high quality eye care to thousands of patients in the Eugene/Springfield area and beyond. He truly enjoys getting to know his patients and tailoring his care to each individual. It is his dedication to these patients that has allowed his practice to flourish and grow.
Dr. Polansky is a past president of the Oregon Academy of Ophthalmology. He has served on the ethics committee of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the Comprehensive Care Committee of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery.
Dr. Polansky has been married to his wife, Leslie, for 40 years. They have two grown children. He enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, Duck athletics, exercising and classical music.
